Landing Pages via Category Metafields

  • It opens instead of the default product listing when the right vehicle is selected.
  • It’s automatically populated with the products that have fitment data for the vehicle.
  • The dropdowns are preselected with the values you’ve added to the metafield.

This is an alternative to defining the vehicle on the category’s Search Keywords field — it stores the same information on a dedicated category metafield instead, mirroring how landing pages work on Shopify.

Add a metafield to the category with:

  • Namespace: convermax
  • Key: vehicle
  • Value: one or more vehicles in the format Year|Make|Model|Submodel, separated by a semicolon (;). The Year and Submodel are optional.

For example:

2010-2013|Chevrolet|Camaro|LS; 2010-2013|Chevrolet|Camaro|LT

The namespace and key are case-sensitive — use convermax and vehicle exactly.

There’s no need to add products to the category; we add them automatically for the specified vehicle.

BigCommerce has no built-in editor for category metafields, so you need a third-party app. The same apps we recommend for viewing customer vehicle metafields work here:

  • Metafields Manager by Hypa (paid) — supports categories and bulk CSV import/export. Note that even here you can’t jump straight from a category’s edit page to its metafields — you open the metafields section of the app.
  • Metafields Editor by Groove Commerce (free) — supports category metafields but is more limited and less convenient.

After editing the metafield, a full re-index is required for the change to take effect (use the Force re-index button on the Convermax app home page).
